Yolo County, California Bridges; State Route 113 across the Sacramento River in Knights Landing

May 2010 (38.80232 Degrees, -121.71991 Degrees) Knights Landing Bridge
The most interesting bridges are on the county line, which are often large rivers. Northeastern Yolo County shares a border with Sutter County and they're separated by the Sacramento River. This big river is 447 miles long and travels through northern California collecting the discharge of smaller rivers before emptying into Suisin Bay.

We've previously studied the Knights Landing Bridge (22 0040) in 2010 when we were looking at movable bridges. It was built in 1933 by Rocca and Caletti of San Rafael and designed by Edward Von Geldern. It's a riveted Warren railing height truss, which means the top chord of the truss acts as barrier rails. The bridge is 407 ft long and includes steel stringer approach spans and a double leaf bascule main span.
