March 2014 (37.12634 Degrees, -122.12256 Degrees) Boulder Creek Bridge |
The Boulder Creek Bridge (36 0051) was built in 1931, its 95 ft long, with a 61 ft long arch span. More time was taken in giving the spandrel columns, corbels, barrier rails, and other structural elements ornate architectural details.
The town of Boulder Creek was originally (in the 19th century) heavily involved in the timber industry with a logging flume and a railroad yard to carry lumber to the City of Santa Cruz. Most of the redwood forests in the area are now state and national parks and the population of 5000 supports more diverse commercial endeavors.
