Placer County, California Bridges: Iowa Hill Bridges across the North Fork of the American River (5)

August 2012 (39.0999 Degrees, -120.9247 Degrees) Iowa Hill Bridges
Another view of the Iowa Hill Suspension Bridge. The tower has a weird shape, probably meant to act as a cutwater. The river must get pretty high for this dolphin to get immersed.

Downstream is Folsom Dam. If the river gets too high, the dam will be overtopped, impacting over a million people. At one time, the Auburn Dam was planned, but it was canceled due to concerns about earthquakes.
