Placer County, California Bridges: Iowa Hill Bridges across the North Fork of the American River (1)

August 2012 (39°6'2" N 120°55'29" W) Iowa Hill Bridges

After about eight months looking at bridges in Japan, we are returning to bridges near where I live. During the summer, my wife and I drove into the Sierra foothills to look at some of the old bridges that cross the North Fork of the American River.

In this photo, Ella is standing on a footing of the three span North Fork American River Bridge (19C0176) and looking at the old Iowa Hill Suspension Bridge a little bit upstream in the photo. We'll take a closer look at both of these bridges over the next few days.
