The next bridge carries State Route 49 over Dry Creek at the north end of Drytown (founded during the Gold Rush and with a current population of 200). Dry Creek Bridge (26 0018) is a two span slab, 90 ft long, that was buit in 1995. It's supported on seat-type abutments and a pier wall. It's on the Golden Chain Highway between State Route 16 (the Jackson Highway) and State Route 88 (the Carson Pass Highway) and consequently carries over 8000 vehicles a day! I wonder what the previous bridge was like? There must have been a series of bridges over time that carried traffic north of town.
