Alameda County, California Bridges: Leimert Bridge across Sausal Creek

June 2014 (37.81222 Degrees-122.21361 degrees)
I couldn't get a good photo of the Leimert Bridge (33C0215) across Diamond Canyon in Oakland. The sides of the canyon are too steep and covered in loose soil that wouldn't provide any purchase for my boots. At one time I might have just slid down the side of the canyon, but my knee has been aching and I'm afraid of sliding into poison oak.
Anyway, more dexterous people have decorated the bridge with spray painted images. It looks like the county has been trying to stop them (with fencing and rebar). The Bridgehunter provides the history of the bridge. Apparently it was an important element in a plan in 1926 to sell parcels on the south side of the canyon. The area does seem pretty comfortable with homes and restaurants nestled in the hills. However, in 1993 a fire swept through the area (but it looks like most of the homes have been rebuilt).
