Yuba County, California Bridges: Waldo Road Bridge across Dry Creek

October 2013 (39.11161 Degrees, -121.30823 Degrees) Waldo Road Bridge
East of Beale Air Force Base is the Waldo Road Bridge across Dry Creek (16C0006). Every county seems to have a Dry Creek and most of them seem pretty wet. This six panel Pratt through truss was built in 1901, it was closed in 2009, repaired in 2010, and it's scheduled for demolition in 2015. The bridge is 240 ft long with a 120 ft long truss span over the river.
The National Bridge Inventory says this bridge only carries about 220 vehicles a day, but it was quite busy while we were there. The surrounding Spenceville Wilderness Area is oak woodlands that are quite pretty and they're building subdivisions on all the nearby private land.
The photos show that they have added cross members to the middle panels, giving it some added strength. The approach spans also look like they've been repaired. This bridge is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places so hopefuly they won't be tearing it down when they build its replacement.
