New Zealand's Bridges: Moorehouse Overbridge across Colombo Street in Christchurch (3)

March 2011 (-43.540 Degrees, 172.637 Degrees) Moorhouse Overbridge
Opus Engineers (who inspects and maintains these bridges for the Ministry of Transport) didn't realize the extend of the earthquake damage to the Moorhouse Bridge. Eventually they closed the bridge until shoring could be placed under the damaged 'split-column' piers.

We rushed to New Zealand to see the damage before it was repaired, but had to get permission to enter the Central Business District which had been cordoned off and was guarded by New Zealand and Australian soldiers.
