San Francisco County, California Bridges: West Bay Bridge (1)

July 2014 (37.8168°, -122.3519°) West Bay Bridge
The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge is composed of several structures. There's the skyway and the self-anchored suspension spans of the East Bay Bridge, back to back suspension structures of the West Bay Bridge, and the Yerba Buena Island tunnel in the middle. The new East Bay Bridge replaced a seismically deficient steel cantilever truss bridge while the West Bay Bridge had better seismic details and was in good enough shape to only require a retrofit.
