Solano County, California Bridges: School Street Bridge across Ulatis Creek

January 2014 (38.35677 Degrees-121.98627 Degrees) School Street Bridge
Continuing along Ulatis Creek, we arrived at the School Street Bridge (23C008), a 40 ft long closed spandrel arch that was once part of the Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States. The bridge has been converted for pedestrian use and incorporated into a park and a Lincoln Highway interpretive site.
This is another reinforced concrete arch bridge that was designed by county engineer F.A. Steiger (built in 1911). We previously looked at Steiger's Pleasants Valley Road Bridge across Miller Creek. This bridge has a lot of features (like the highly decorative barrier rails) that you don't see on the more 'cookie cutter' bridge designs of today.
This bridge is not only part of the Lincoln Highway interpretive site but it is part of the Ulatis Creek Walk and part of Old Vacaville.
