India's Bridges: Highway Structure South of Pondicherry (2)

Another view of the ford, causeway, or whatever this structure is called. We can now see the culverts that allow the river to flow under the deck. Note how the barrier rail was badly damaged, most likely from the 2004 tsunami that devastated the coast. Fishing communities agreed to relocate their villages 1/2 km from the shore after so many people were killed, but that's a difficult resolution to keep.
